Briefly describe your role at Golden LEAF.
As Program Associate to the Food Distribution Assistance Program, it is my responsibility to help maintain the compliance of all documentation associated with the program.

Describe yourself in three words.
Flexible. Jovial. Results-Driven.

What’s your favorite part of your job and why?
My favorite part of my job is compiling site visit notes and photos because it allows me to see the progression of the project from its inception. As the program goes on, I cannot wait to see the photos post-funding to measure the impact on each organization and their surrounding communities.

What is your favorite pastime outside of work?
I love to go roller skating and participate in community service events with my sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho, Inc.

What is your biggest work-related accomplishment within the last year?
Last year I jumped right in with the Food Distribution Assistance Program team to assist with the initial requirements process that was well underway. In a very short time, I taught myself how to navigate two database systems, Airtable and Fluxx, enough to be able to assist grantees with questions, while the rest of the team were out conducting site visits. I really tested my “hit the ground running” skills and had a blast learning along the way.

What motivates you to support long-term economic development in rural, tobacco-dependent, and economically distressed communities?
As someone who worked in the North Carolina Community College System for many years, I have seen the challenges that students endure to even attend a two-year institution. However, I have seen Golden LEAF provide scholarships and resources to the community at large to assist students attending college four-year institutions that otherwise may not have had the opportunity. That is one of the many reasons why I wanted to be a part of the Golden LEAF family is because of how they value an undergraduate education.
