Briefly describe your role at Golden LEAF.
I am responsible for processing accounts payable, recording journal entries, assisting with annual audits, and other accounting functions assigned by the Vice President of Finance. I am also responsible for Human Resources duties such as assisting staff with questions and concerns regarding their annual leave and annual sick leave.
Describe yourself in three words.
Collaborative. Communicative. Dependable.
What’s your favorite part of your job and why?
I find fulfillment and enjoyment with all my job responsibilities, but I can say my favorite part of my job is coming to work each day with a group of people that are supportive and are nice to work with.
What is your favorite pastime outside of work?
I am very family oriented so my favorite pastime would be anytime spent with my husband and three children. I recently welcomed my first grandchild four months ago. I also spend time with my other family and friends.
What is your biggest work-related accomplishment within the last year?
This past year, I worked to improve our electronic records process, which helps provide quicker access to paid invoices and invoice tracking, and results in a faster response during our audit process.
What motivates you to support long-term economic development in rural, tobacco-dependent, and economically distressed communities?
I was raised in rural Halifax County. I have seen and experienced the negative impact that a loss of jobs can have on a community. What motivates me is knowing that I work for an organization that helps communities by supporting projects that create jobs, offer job training, and award scholarships to students in rural North Carolina.
