The Board of Directors established the Golden LEAF Scholarship Program 20 years ago as a workforce strategy to broaden educational opportunities for students from rural counties. Since its inception, the Golden LEAF Foundation has awarded over $48.5 million to help more than 21,900 students from rural North Carolina attend the state’s colleges and universities. The Foundation has two scholarship programs: one to help rural students attend the state’s four-year colleges and universities and another to support rural students attending N.C. community colleges.
The Golden LEAF Scholarship Program helps rural students from qualifying counties attend participating North Carolina four-year colleges and universities. High school seniors entering college as freshmen are eligible for a four-year scholarship totaling up to $12,000 ($3,000 a year for up to four years). Community college transfer students are eligible for $3,000 a year for up to three years. Click here for more information on the 4-year scholarship program.
The Golden LEAF Scholarship Two-Year Program assists rural students from qualifying counties to attend participating North Carolina community colleges. Eligible curriculum students can receive up to $2,250 per school year, including the summer term. Up to $1,000 per year is available for eligible students enrolling in occupational programs.
