Following Hurricane Florence, the Town of Turkey identified several areas of damaged stormwater infrastructure and pursued FEMA Public Assistance to complete those repairs. More recently, additional issues developed in areas near or adjacent to areas previously repaired. The town believed the immense flow of water from Hurricane Florence compromised the substrate underneath and around the stormwater system, but resettling of that substrate was delayed. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to repair the damaged stormwater infrastructure.
