Description:
Pollocksville was devastated by flooding caused by Hurricane Florence. The historic town hall, located adjacent to the Trent River, received more than 20 feet of water, rendering the building unsafe and forcing the town’s government to a temporary location. The town explored relocating the structure to higher land. Flooding also resulted in damage to sewer infrastructure. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to repair the town hall, to elevate pump station equipment, and to construct an elevated pump station and chlorination building. Funds to be reimbursed by FEMA will be returned to Golden LEAF.
