Following Hurricane Matthew, the Town of Pembroke evaluated its existing stormwater infrastructure and identified areas of failure or inadequacy. The town was awarded a grant for stormwater improvements through the Department of Commerce’s disaster recovery grant program. Construction is underway; however, the project costs have increased both because of damages caused by Hurricane Florence as well as other unforeseen circumstances. Golden LEAF disaster recovery grant funds will reimburse the town for the costs incurred as a direct result of Hurricane Florence.
