Description:

This award provides funding to the Town of Aurora for infrastructure to support a new Industrial Training Facility which is a collaborative $2.7 million project developed with Beaufort County Community College (BCCC), Nutrien, and the Town of Aurora. Nutrien produces and distributes potash, nitrogen, and phosphate products for agricultural, industrial, and feed customers world-wide. Nutrien will be a long-term engaged partner with BCCC and the college will provide ongoing customized training for their employees and to others. The training center will also serve residents from Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrrell, and Washington counties offering courses such as advanced manufacturing, fire & emergency management, ESL, small business workshops, and others. BCCC expects at least 60 students to earn a third party certification by the end of August 2024, among other outcomes. Golden LEAF funds will be used for infrastructure associated with construction of the new facility.
