The purpose of this GLF grant is to provide funding to Stanly Community College (SCC) to make enhancements to its Virtualization Data Center, which will increase SCC’s ability to offer training to students interested in employment in Information Technology (IT). SCC will create a competency-based education (CBE) training program in Information Technology-Network Management to increase scheduling flexibility. The CBE program will be offered through a hybrid instructional environment (face-to-face and digital) that will be supported by the data center. The CBE program is tailored for veterans and incumbent and displaced workers to increase their skills for jobs in the IT employment sector. High school students participating in dual enrollment will also be able to participate in the program. Golden LEAF funds will be used for building renovations, to install a fire suppression system, and complete upgrades to the electrical service and cabling systems.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
