This grant funded the Agricultural Institute at North Carolina State University (NCSU) to establish educational, vocational, and mentoring opportunities for military personnel leaving the armed services and veterans that wanted to transition into a career in agriculture. The program worked with the Career Resource Center at Ft. Bragg to provide training throughout the year. The project also offered program completers mentorship opportunities in rural North Carolina communities. Outcomes for the project included training 100 transitioning soldiers and veterans, with program completers moving into agriculture-related employment or enrolling in further agriculture education programs. Golden LEAF funds were used for the program coordinator salary, equipment, and other program-related costs.
