The Genoa Lift Station has frequently been subjected to flooding, most recently by Hurricane Matthew. This sewer system currently serves residential and commercial customers south of the Neuse River in the Mar Mac area. This Golden LEAF grant will enable Wayne County to rebuild the lift station with elevations that meet regulatory flood prevention levels to avoid future damage. By replacing and elevating this lift station, Wayne County hopes to keep the residential and commercial sewer lines intact and avoid disruption of service. The project will also help to eliminate the environmental concerns associated with the existing station.
