Flooding from Hurricane Matthew inundated and impeded access to the Seven Springs Community Volunteer Fire Department, which was located in the flood zone. The Fire Department applied for a buyout and acquired land outside the floodplain. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds supported the construction of a new station.
