The purpose of this grant was to provide funding to the Northeast Academy for Aerospace and Advanced Technologies (NEAAAT) to outfit a permanent facility capable of housing the school at full enrollment and supporting STEM career development programs. With assistance from USDA, NEAAAT planned to purchase and renovate a portion of Southgate Park for educational use. The project was expected to directly impact 600 students and families across seven northeast counties. Golden LEAF funding was used for capital improvements and to purchase the equipment, furniture, and instructional supplies necessary to support coursework and training programs that were aligned with industry workforce demands in northeastern North Carolina.
