The Sampson County emergency services facility was located in a former National Guard armory. EMS, 911, and emergency services operations were also housed in this facility. The building was outdated, undersized, and in an area that experienced localized flooding, which limited the county’s ability to operate EMS from the site. The county pursued construction of a new facility to house EMS and other emergency services. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to support the cost of constructing the EMS services portion of the new building. The county pursued other grants and loan funding to complete the project.
