Safe Haven of Pender, a nonprofit organization, provides shelter and services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Following Hurricane Florence, Safe Haven increased capacity through double room occupancy and hotel vouchers to accommodate victims affected by Hurricane Florence from various counties. Safe Haven provided shelter, food, personal care items, clothing, medication assistance, and applicable referrals to all victims affected by Hurricane Florence. Funding awarded from the NC Hurricane Florence Relief Fund was used to provide for increased staff time, direct assistance to survivors, hotel vouchers, and rental/relocation assistance..
