Rose Hill Stormwater

Organization:
Town of Rose Hill
Amount:
$395,800.00
Program Area:
Flood Mitigation and Recovery Program
County of Applicant:
Duplin
Year:
2024
Description:

The intersection of Highway 117 and Charity Road experiences frequent flooding during heavy rain events. Stormwater from this area drains into and backs up in the ditch along Walnut Street, which is the main egress for the fire department. Traffic is rerouted around the affected area causing delays in response times. Frequent flooding has eroded the main ditch bank and shoulder, exposing the main sewer line. Golden LEAF flood mitigation grant funds will be used for engineering and construction to enclose the ditch using approximately 400 linear feet of stormwater pipe and to install catch basins. Ditch bank reshaping and stabilization efforts of approximately 1,300 linear feet of open drainage ditch will improve flow and properly direct flow to the improved drainage area. Households, businesses, and public/private entities located in the immediate project area will benefit from completion of the project.
