This award funded Mayland Community College (MCC) to establish a Resource Center for Entrepreneurs (RCE) in Spruce Pine at the Three Peaks Enrichment Center. The RCE resulted from collaboration of local economic development directors, public officials, the Chamber of Commerce, and MCC. The RCE supported new and emerging businesses in Mitchell, Avery, and Yancey counties, serving as a technological hub for entrepreneurs and providing a range of business services including enhanced product development, prototyping, and marketing. It is anticipated that the project will result in the addition of 70 new businesses and 200 new jobs in the three-county area. Golden LEAF funds were used for design, renovations, and furnishings.
