Flooding caused by Hurricane Matthew resulted in a slope failure at the wastewater treatment plant in Red Springs. The lab and storage buildings at the plant also experienced roof damage. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds paid for repairs at the wastewater treatment plant that were not reimbursed by FEMA. These funds were also used to install back-up generators at three water supply wells serving the town.
