This award provides funding to the Town of Nashville to extend its water distribution system 2,500 feet to an 8.3-acre site that is the anticipated site of UNC Nash Health’s proposed 16,000-square-foot medical facility. The facility will house primary care and urgent care services. There is a health professional shortage in Nash and surrounding counties. A physician needs assessment conducted for UNC Nash Health reported a deficit of more than 20 primary care providers in its primary and secondary service area. The planned facility will support 21 full time jobs, 15 of which will be new positions: 10 medical staff with an average annual wage of $55,000, and 5 physicians with an average annual wage of $310,000. Golden LEAF funds will be used for construction.
