Duplin Christian Outreach Ministries Crisis Center (DCOM) was established in 2004 for the purpose of assisting individuals and families in crisis due to a natural disaster. DCOM partnered with the Department of Social Services, James Sprunt Community College, as well as other state agencies and nonprofit organizations. Through a team of volunteers, DCOM provided counseling, rental assistance, replacement personal property, and repaired homes of individuals and families in crisis. DCOM operated five food pantries throughout the County as well as a weekend food backpack program for students. Funding awarded from the NC Hurricane Florence Relief Fund was used to support increased capacity of these programs for survivors of Hurricane Florence.
