This award provides funding to support the initiative of Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., dba AMOREM to establish a 7-bed patient care unit (PCU) to serve the populations of Ashe, Avery, and Watauga counties. This unit will provide acute pain and symptom management, respite care, and residential hospice care services. Establishing the PCU will generate 15 new healthcare positions, 11 full-time and 4 part-time (13.35 FTEs), with an average annual salary of $41,298.50. Golden LEAF funds will be used to procure medical equipment for the PCU’s operations.
