Description:

The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to provide funding to High Country Community Health to support its new Federally Qualified Health Center in Avery County. The center will provide dental, behavioral and primary health care services. The project will create at least 14 new positions in addition to providing improved access to healthcare. The center will also serve as an internship placement site for students from Appalachian State University and Caldwell Community College pursuing health related occupational training. Golden LEAF funds will be used to renovate a 10,000 square foot building in Newland, NC at which the Center will be located.
