This grant provided funding to the Town of Pembroke to extend a sewer line to serve development along Prospect Road to the east and northeast of UNC-Pembroke. Prospect Road was under construction and the town and the University were working collaboratively to ensure appropriate infrastructure upgrades were installed with the road improvements. University projects included construction of a School of Business located on Prospect Road. The university was also experiencing dramatic growth in enrollment—14% in 2019—and additional commercial development was expected along Prospect Road. The infrastructure also served 40 acres of land owned by the university on which the university planned to construct a School of Health Sciences. Golden LEAF funds were used for costs associated with the installation of a sewer main.
