This grant was used for the construction of a public bridge across the French Broad River, allowing Project Ranger to create a new manufacturing facility. Project Ranger created 800 new jobs paying an average wage of $68,000 and made a capital investment of $650 million. The project attracted workers from a 22-county labor shed.
