This award provides funding to the City of Thomasville to extend public sewer to serve Nucor. Nucor will locate a micro mill steel plant at an industrial site along US 64 in Tier 2, Davidson County. The project will create 180 jobs that pay, on average, $99,660 in annual salaries, compared to the county average of $45,117. Nucor’s capital investment for the project is expected to be $350 million. The total cost of public water and sewer extensions needed for the project is $2.2 million. Golden LEAF funds will be used for the public sewer extension.
