This award provides funding to construct water and sewer infrastructure to serve Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., a pressure-treated lumber manufacturer locating near Maxton in Scotland County. The company will invest $40 million and create 53 jobs with an average annual wage of $59,444, over the next five years. Within four to five years, the company expects to purchase approximately $30 million in North Carolina lumber annually. The infrastructure will also serve other industrial sites in the area. Golden LEAF funds will support construction of the water and sewer infrastructure and related costs.
