This grant provided funding to Burke County Public Schools for implementation of a one-to-one digital learning initiative for its middle school students and teachers. During the prior three years, the district had developed a vision for digital learning that started with the incorporation of devices and enhanced learning in the elementary grades. Burke County Public Schools proposed growing its digital learning initiative to include all its middle schools. Outcomes of the project included individual student growth as reflected in their digital portfolios, improvements in math proficiency scores, and increased use of technology as an educational tool. Golden LEAF funds were used for the purchase of devices for middle school students and their teachers.
