Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Cape Fear Community College in support of the Production Technician Program to meet the growing employment demands of manufacturing industries in the area. This pre-employment program provides training in core industry-wide skills required for production occupations in all sectors of manufacturing. It is designed to run for 120 hours over three weeks after which the participants would be immediately interviewed for jobs by employers. The training topics were selected by local employers and include safety, production and processes, quality and maintenance awareness. Seven companies with 237 projected new positions could benefit from a production technician program. Golden LEAF funds will be used for software, supplies and equipment.
