Flooding as a result of Hurricane Matthew contributed to the degradation of an existing culvert crossing of Highway 17. Pollocksville operated a water distribution main adjacent to Highway 17 that crossed the culvert. Erosion left the existing waterline exposed and at risk for failure. The Town worked with the NC Department of Transportation to temporarily stabilize the exposed waterline. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program were used for the replacement of the waterline crossing with a horizontal directional bore below the culvert.
