The Town of Pittsboro experiences flooding along Pittsboro Elementary School Road during significant named and unnamed storm events. During Hurricane Florence, the existing stormwater infrastructure was overcharged, causing the road to be overtopped and collapse. The Town completed initial studies and preliminary engineering to determine a solution. Golden LEAF flood mitigation grant funds will be used to upsize the current infrastructure. Households, businesses, and other public / private entities in the immediate project area will benefit from this project.
