This award provides funding to Wilson Community College to enhance the new Agribusiness Technology program that it started in fall 2025. The Agribusiness Technology program provides hands-on training for students to be employed in agriculture, ag-business, and related agriculture careers in the Wilson County region. One in three residents in Wilson County are employed in jobs related to agriculture, but rural students lack exposure and hands-on training for ag careers, and employers struggle to find qualified employees. Wilson Community College expects that 50 students per year, including Career and College Promise (CCP) high school students, will earn academic credentials in the agribusiness curriculum program. Golden LEAF funds will be used for personnel, a hydroponics lab, irrigation system, technology equipment, and related items.
