The Providence Road bridge into the Oxford Heights neighborhood flooded frequently. Providence Road was the only entrance/exit for the neighborhood. During Hurricane Matthew, residents of Oxford Heights were stranded for several days. The most cost-effective and resilient solution to this problem was to relocate the entrance to the other side of the neighborhood. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used for the construction of an alternate entrance into the neighborhood. The city funds were used for property acquisition and for construction.
