This award provides funding to Beaufort County Community College (BCCC) to support the expansion of its simulation lab to help meet healthcare industry demands and address the shortage of qualified professionals in local rural communities. BCCC currently operates a 972-square-foot simulation lab with three beds. County funding will be used to convert a lecture hall into a second simulation lab measuring 3,825-square-feet and accommodating up to 15 beds. The larger simulation lab will include simulation manikins and medication carts similar to tools used in real-world healthcare environments. The project will increase the number of graduates in the LPN program from 12 to 27 annually and the number of graduates in the ADN program from 29 to 48 annually. Golden LEAF funds will be used for equipment, training, and instructional supplies and materials.
