This award provides funding to McDowell Technical Community College (MTCC) to establish a Nurse Aide training lab at its Old Fort Workforce Development Center to address demand for nurse aides and medication aides. The Nurse Aide and Medication Aide training programs at the main campus are at full capacity. The town originally renovated the building that houses the Center using a 2021 Golden LEAF grant. With this expansion, MTCC expects the number of students completing these programs annually will increase by 82. Eighty percent of completers are expected to earn a third-party certification. Golden LEAF funds will be used for upfit, equipment, personnel, and participant support services.
