This grant provided funding to North Carolina’s Northeast Economic Development Corporation to implement a regional school innovation and continuous improvement training program in partnership with middle school programs in the Dare, Halifax, Hertford, and Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County school districts and others. By participating in a series of professional development events and on-site coaching, district teams learned the principles of project-based learning and developed project-based learning projects for their students that address real-world issues facing regional employers. Golden LEAF funds paid for professional development, project management, and outreach for teachers and administrators in the school districts.
