This grant provided funding to the Town of Parmele to repair damage caused by heavy precipitation from Hurricane Matthew, which had resulted in inflow/infiltration of the sewer collection system. Excessive inflow/infiltration had contributed to sewer overflows at a manhole located across a road from the sewer pump station. This overflow had released sewage into a tributary of Flat Swamp. The inflow/infiltration and overflows had also contributed to the collapse of a road shoulder at the same location. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to replace the damaged sewer line at the site of the overflow and stabilize the road shoulder.
