Flooding as a result of Hurricane Florence damaged facilities and dumped sand throughout the Nelva R. Albury Park. This park served as the main public access area to the beach on the north side of the Town of Surf City. FEMA Public Assistance was sought for this project. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used for parking lot and bathroom repairs and for replacement of the playground equipment, gazebo, and picnic tables damaged by the flooding. Town funds were also used to complete the project.
