FSMA requires baseline food safety training for most farm and food manufacturing operations. FSMA will affect approximately 2,000 farms and 1,900 food-processing facilities across North Carolina. FDA-approved training programs have been developed but the cost to provide training is unfunded. Golden LEAF funds will be used for personnel, travel, communications, and other costs.
