Flooding as a result of Hurricane Matthew damaged a portion of Ayden’s stormwater infrastructure located under a commercial building. Subsurface material had washed into the drainage system, causing blockages, and the building’s settling around the infrastructure had damaged the building. The town relocated the piping from under the existing building and through a new easement. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used for the construction of the replacement stormwater infrastructure. No Golden LEAF funds were used to repair the commercial building.
