The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Tri-County Community College for a job training program that will bring 25 new jobs to the Cherokee, Clay and Graham county area. The project will provide machine-skills training necessary for 50 incumbent and 25 new workers at Snap-On Tools, which is undertaking a $3 million plant expansion. Courses offered will include CNC controls, inspection, materials, metal cutting, quality, safety, lathe operations, and milling. The training will be available to the public and will be offered as an online hybrid course with a flexible schedule. Employers including Stanley Furniture, Moog Components Groups and B&C Machining need workers with the skills that will be offered. Golden LEAF funds will be used for the online instruction subscriptions, tuition, and materials.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
