This award provides funding to the Center for Public Leadership and Governance (CPLG) at the UNC School of Government to offer financial support to assist mid- and entry-level professionals (department director and below) and local elected officials from municipalities with a mayor-council form of government. All recipients will be from Tier 1 counties. The training will provide the fundamental skills needed to help communities operate efficiently and effectively. The program supports attendance in the following programs: 1) Fundamental and Advanced Supervisory Practices courses, which provide basic management and supervisory competencies to professionals; 2) continuing education courses in core competencies for local government professionals, and skills in basic legal and fiduciary obligations, service management, and planning and administration for elected officials; and 3) organizational scholarships for customized advising and training to allow small jurisdictions to address specific capacity development priorities. Golden LEAF funds will be used for sponsorship of supervisory practices courses, scholarships, customized advising and training, and outreach, management, and administration.
