The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC) to establish a new Light Diesel Technology degree program. In North Carolina, employment for diesel technicians is projected to grow 13.6% from 2014 – 2024, which is expected to result in an average annual growth of 230 jobs. Funds will be used for faculty professional development and equipment needed to successfully operate and sustain the new program. The program anticipates a launch date of January 2019 with an enrollment of 15 students per semester. The Connect NC Bond will provide approximately $485,640 for the renovation of existing space to house the new program.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
