Hurricane Matthew caused flooding at the Lenoir County Cooperative Extension building and adjacent livestock arena. The buildings were submerged in several feet of water, making them unusable and causing Cooperative Extension staff to temporarily relocate to space in downtown Kinston. This Golden LEAF grant will support replacement of the Cooperative Extension building and elevation of the lot to mitigate the risk of future flooding. Golden LEAF funds will complement Insurance proceeds that will also be used for this project.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
