The Greene County law enforcement center was attached to the Greene County Courthouse in downtown Snow Hill. The existing generator provided backup power during outages to maintain law enforcement communication and accommodate inmates. During Hurricane Matthew, floodwaters surrounded the generator, preventing direct access for refueling. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to relocate the generator to an area adjacent to the law enforcement center. The relocation elevated the generator out of the 500-year floodplain and ensured continuous access to maintain electrical service during an outage.
