MST Rebar, Inc., a Canadian manufacturer of fiberglass rebar that is used in construction in corrosive environments is locating a new manufacturing facility at the Bladenboro Industrial Park in an existing building. It will create 83 jobs by the end of 2028 paying an average annual wage of $58,824 compared to the Bladen County average of $46,867 and make a capital investment of $10 million. To allow the company to connect to the town’s wastewater system, the town will have to enter a special order by consent (SOC) with the NC Department of Environmental Quality that will require the town to address existing issues with its wastewater system. The town will do that by connecting its wastewater system to Lumberton’s. Bladenboro has received significant funding from the State for the project. Golden LEAF funds will be used for costs associated with that connection.
