This grant provided funding to Beaufort County Community College (BCCC) to purchase and install training equipment to integrate mechatronics skills into the BCCC engineering programs. The project offered specific training in skill areas needed by area manufacturers. BCCC identified demand for approximately 40 employees with mechatronics training in the next two years. BCCC also offered continuing education opportunities for workers already employed in the machining and welding industries. Students now have the opportunity to earn degrees and certificates demonstrating competency in certain skills.
