This award funded Ashe County to establish a 41.7-acre industrial park. The county had no vacant industrial sites to market to prospective companies, which had constrained industrial growth in the area. The county addressed this issue through the creation of the new industrial park containing five sites ranging in size from 2.2 to 13 acres each. Prior to the award, the county had purchased land for the project and completed an engineering report for the property. It is expected that the project will generate 108 new jobs and attract $12,350,000 in private investment in the near term. Other funders on this project included Appalachian Regional Commission and Blue Ridge Electric (USDA REDLG). Golden LEAF funds were used for site preparation- and infrastructure-related costs.
