This project provided funding to support an expansion of the Mt. Olive Family Medicine Center (MOFMC) facility. The expansion allowed MOFMC to increase staff, services, and service hours to help meet demand for medical care in the area. MOFMC added new positions including a full-time provider, behavioral health provider, and medical assistant, and two half-time nurses. Mt. Olive residents who traveled to Goldsboro for substance abuse and nutrition management services are now able to access those services locally. The additional capacity also allows providers to see at least 100 walk-in patients per day, doubling the Center’s current capacity, and reducing wait times for the walk-in clinic from two hours to less than one hour. Golden LEAF funds were used for furniture and medical equipment.
