This award provides funding to Rowan-Salisbury School System (RSSS) to start a Global Logistics CTE pathway at Jesse Carson High School. The Global Logistics program will enhance the school system’s existing Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering pathways by offering new courses and certifications such as Introduction to Logistics (OSHA 10 and Rigging Trainer), Functional Areas in Logistics (Forklift simulator), and Global Logistics Management (Certified Logistics Technician). The certifications will be offered in partnership with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College which is expanding its advanced manufacturing programs to its North Campus in Rowan County. The Global Logistics CTE Pathway will directly address the need for skilled workers in transportation and logistics from local distribution centers. RSSS expects to enroll 108 students annually in the pathway by the 2027-28 school year. Of those enrolled, 50 are expected to complete the program by the 2027-28 school year, with 40 students receiving a third-party credential. It is expected that 60 students participating in the program will receive career day exposure to local employers. Golden LEAF funds will be used for equipment and associated professional development.
