Description:

The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to assist McDowell County Schools with the purchase of approximately 1,500 computers for their high school 1:1 technology program. The school system has completed installation of wired and wireless access points at the target schools, established pilot programs at the Early College and conducted on-going staff development, and is now ready to provide computers to the students. Expected benefits of the program include improved graduation rates and test scores, better student attendance, and more engagement and satisfaction among students and parents. The local school system and the County are providing $827,000 and $200,000 to the project, respectively.
