Description:

This award provides funding to Nash County to expand critical infrastructure at its 142-acre I-95 Industrial Center. Located one exit north of Wilson County’s Corporate Park which house major life sciences companies but is nearing capacity , the I-95 site is well-positioned to capture spillover growth from this park. Nash County constructed a 100,000-square-foot shell building at the I-95 Industrial Center, ideally suited for life sciences, advanced manufacturing and logistics firms. Although the building has attracted interest, its has not sold. In contrast to the County’s thriving Middlesex Corporate Centre, the I-95 Industrial Center lacks a fully developed entrance road and visible infrastructure, which has made it difficult for prospective tenants to fully appreciate the site’s readiness and accessibility. This infrastructure expansion will include widening Highway 97, extending sewer lines, and upgrading water lines. The expansion is expected to enhance the Center’s competitiveness as a shovel-ready site attracting high-value industries, such as life sciences, biopharma, and advanced manufacturing. These improvements are also expected to drive $150,000,000 in private investment and create 120 jobs at a $51,927.00 average annual wage. Golden LEAF funds will be used for construction and related expenses.
